Students Help Drive Sprints Promotion

August 09,  2024

Facing a big task to promote the most ambitious Historic Leyburn Sprints yet, organisers entered a collaboration with the University of Southern Queensland to help out.

Two final-year student interns from the School of Humanities and Communications have joined the Sprints team as marketing assistants managing an expanded social media campaign.

The interns have ensured an overloaded volunteer organising team has had a constant supply of professionally-produced social media content to publicise the event.

And while they’re helping this big event get on the road, they’ll earn academic credits and invaluable real-world experience.

“Our interns Clara and Georgia have done a fantastic job on social media and other tasks and their contribution will make a real difference to the event result,” says Sprints President Tricia Chant.

“They’re a credit to the quality of communications students the University of Southern Queensland is producing. Our marketing assistants have learned a lot and taught us a lot and are clearly ready to step up to full-time roles in the commercial world.”

The collaboration has been so successful Mrs Chant says the Sprints intends to continue it with new interns every year.
