The Queensland Government has contributed $25,000 in 2025 through its Queensland Events Destination Program (QEDP), continuing its long-standing backing of one of the Southern Downs region’s most valuable events.
The Historic Leyburn Sprints is one of more than 40 events across the State that receive assistance from the Queensland Events Development Program.
The money is being used to market the Sprints to visitors outside the region and to develop an all-new event website.
Southern Downs Regional Council continues in recognising the Sprints as a Major Event, with sponsoring the Sprints to the tune of $12,000 in 2024.
The event organisers also have welcomed support through grants and sponsorship from a number of sources, including the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
