When NSW businessman Aaron Lewis decided he wanted a racing replica of something really exciting, there were no half-measures. It had to be one of the fastest and most beautiful sports cars in Ferrari history, a P4.
Highlighting the extraordinary variety of cars attracted to the Historic Leyburn Sprints, this P4 – number 177 in the running order - is entered as a 1966 model with a 4.8 litre engine. Its class rivals will include other endurance racing machines from Porsche and Ultima and Shelby Cobra Daytona.
The P4 was a weapon in the famous track war between Ford and Ferrari. The Ford GT40 had won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1966, but Ferrari had its revenge in 1967 with a 1-2-3 victory in the Daytona 24.
The sight and sound of this magnificent “Ferrari” – as far away as possible from its natural habitat as it’s possible to be – will be something not to miss at Leyburn.
