Entries to contest this year’s Historic Leyburn Sprints close this Friday, 28 June, at 5pm. That’s just three days remaining if you want to be part of Queensland’s biggest historic motorsport event.
There’s a special reason to enter our 28th annual Sprints: we’re celebrating the 75th anniversary of Leyburn’s hosting of the 1949 Australian Grand Prix.
No other event in Australia celebrates its grand prix history like Leyburn does.
We’ve got plenty lined up to make it a special weekend for you, including some former drivers with their own grand prix and Formula 1 credentials, cars from the 1949 race and even a guest appearance by an entry in the famous Indianapolis 500 (more on this exciting news in a future newsletter).
With at least seven timed Sprints runs across Saturday and Sunday - assuming there are no unanticipated delays - there’s plenty of action in store for competitors and spectators.
More than 60 classes, plus a Juniors category, ensure the entry list will be packed with variety and interest.
